Echinacea ‘Southern Belle’ Is No Wall Flower

There’s a garden party happening in one of my beds, and only ladies wearing fuchsia were invited.

Echinacea ‘Southern Belles’ provide a pink parade in my bed of greens and yellows. While these ladies are dainty, they are far from demure. Tall, confident and color-rich, they knock the observer out with a powerful hot pink punch.

My ‘Southern Belles’ started blooming in early July, and, “well, bless their hearts,” they promise to keep the color going all summer long.

Their most striking feature, “if I do declare,” is their flat ray petals that stick out from beneath full magenta cones like fancy party skirts. This new double coneflower selection from Plant Nouveau’s Cone-fections series has pronounced Echinacea tennesseensis blood that promises “extreme vigor, amazing bloom power and super long life.”

I’m tickled they brought their garden party to my house.

  1. Where can I buy some of the Southern Bell Echinacea? I have checked at all my local nurseries and can’t find it. I see only wholesalers online.
